I pulled up, jogged to the beach and took a quick look around.

The final details including the route for Gay Byrne ’ s funeral as fans get the opportunity to say one final goodbye to the legendary broadcaster. The cortege will pass through Howth village at 11 am as it will go down the Howth Road all the way to Sutton Cross before heading down the coast to Clontarf Road.

Gay Byrne ' s funeral cortège will travel from Howth to Dublin city centre and back to Sutton tomorrow, giving the public a chance to pay their respects to the legendary broadcaster on his final route home. One of Ireland's most recognisable personalities and the man affectionately known as 'Uncle Gaybo'.

The final details including the route for Gay Byrne’s funeral as fans get the opportunity to say one final goodbye to the legendary broadcaster.

Gay’s funeral cortege is expected to travel from Howth to the city centre and then back to Sutton as the public get ready to pay their respects during Gay’s last journey home.

The funeral mass is set to take place in St Mary’s Pro Catherdral at 12 noon tomorrow, Friday after a journey from Howth.

The cortege will pass through Howth village at 11am as it will go down the Howth Road all the way to Sutton Cross before heading down the coast to Clontarf Road.

The funeral will begin at noon at St Mary’ s Pro Cathedral, and will be broadcast on RTÉ.

 The cortege will then go over Annesley Bridge and head towards the North Strand, then onto Amiens Street and over the quays at Matt Talbot Memorial Bridge.

It will then travel along the quays before turning onto O’Connell Bridge and then right onto O’Connell Street, and down the street until it reaches Parnell Square.

Going around the square, it will then go onto Cathal Brugha Street and then a right onto Marlborough Street for the funeral at St Mary’s Pro Cathedral.

Once the mass finishes, the cortege will leave the cathedral between 1pm and 1.30pm and return to Cathal Brugha Street and O’Connell Street.

Once it reaches the quays on its return, the cortege will turn left onto Eden Quay and head to the North Quay before turning down Amiens Street and onto the North Strand Road.

It will then travel down the Clontarf Road to St Finatan’s Cemetary for the burial.

The mass will be broadcast live from RTE and will be available to view on TV or online and will begin at 11.30am on RTE One and RTE News Now, with Bryan Dobson presenting the programme.

Mary Kennedy and John Bowman will also be providing commentary for the ceremony.
