It was a busy day in Lotto HQ after players scooped nearly half a million euro in National Lottery scratch cards.
The first big win came as a small family syndicate from Birr, Co Offaly scooped the €250,000 top prize in the €10 Money Multiplier 40X scratch card.
The winning ticket was bought at a Tesco store on the Railway Road in the town.
The lucky family, who want to remain private, said they will split their prize between equally and plan to celebrate by bringing a new puppy into the family.
The winning mum said: "We’ve been sat at home over the last few days looking at the winning scratch card, itching to get on the road to Dublin to collect our prize.

"Everyone in the family gets an equal share of this prize and we all have our own little plans to spend our money.
"I suggested that we decide on something to do together to enjoy the win as a family, thinking that they would jump at the chance of a holiday or something like that. Instead of a lovely holiday, all they wanted was a new family dog so I guess we’ll have a new addition to the family very soon.
"We'll have to make sure that we don’t pick an obvious name for him like ‘Lucky’, for fear the neighbours find out about our win."
Meanwhile a shell-shocked couple in Co Carlow also collected their life-changing €200,000 prize in Lotto HQ today.
The winning husband said: “It has been the most surreal few days of our lives, it really has. It’s something of a tradition with us where we get a scratch card every week and it’s a little bit of fun between us but you don’t every expect to see €200,000 popping up on the card.
