A MARRIED couple accused of cruelty to their nine year old daughter, who was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, have now been further charged with assaulting her.

The new charges were today brought today against the girl’s mother (35) and father (37), who were already charged with neglecting her after she suffered a head wound as well as "burns, bites, swelling, bruising.”

They are facing trial on all charges and Judge Bryan Smyth remanded them in continuing custody to next week, for the preparation of a book of evidence.
