  Gardai seize over €30,000 worth of suspected stolen car parts in Mullingar Gardai have seized over €30,000 worth of suspected stolen car parts following a search in Westmeath. A man has been arrested after Gardai carried out a search of business premises in Mullingar on Friday.

The National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) (Irish: An Biúró Náisiúnta um Imscrúdú Coiriúil) - formerly known as the Central Detective Unit (CDU) (Irish: Aonad Lár Bleachtaireachta) - is the main national criminal investigative branch of the Garda Síochána, the national police force of Ireland.

The Criminal Assets Bureau has seized ten high-end sports utility vehicles in Dublin this morning. CAB said the vehicles, which are worth around €700,000, were seized as part of ongoing investigations into a suspected organised crime gang based in west Dublin .

The Criminal Assets Bureau has carried out five raids in Dublin and Wicklow as part of an investigation into a suspected member of an Albanian Organised Crime Gang.

The raids were carried out on a home, a business premises and a professional premises in Dublin 15 along with a business premises in Wicklow, and a professional premises in Dublin 2.

There was also a freeze put on €190,000 held in accounts, but no arrests have been made.

A garda spokesman said: "The Criminal Assets Bureau with the assistance of local Gardai in Blanchardstown and Bray conducted a search operation this morning, Friday 6th of December 2019.

"Five searches were conducted, one residential dwelling in Dublin 15, two business premises, one in Dublin 15 and one in Co Wicklow, and two professional premises, one in Dublin 15 and one in Dublin 2."

Among the items seized were:

  • Approximately €500 of cocaine
  • Cash to the value of approximately £12,000
  • Cash to the value of approximately €10,000
  • A Hublot Watch
  • A 131 Audi A5 motorcar
  • A 142 Mercedes C Class
  • Financial documents
  • Electronic devices

The spokesman continued: "In addition to the items seized, in excess of €190,000 held in financial accounts was restrained on foot of Orders granted pursuant to Section 17 (2) of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing) Act 2010.

"All searches were conducted under CAB Warrants, Section 14 of the Criminal Assets Bureau Act, 1996 as amended.
