A message was posted on social media yesterday by a student. 

It is believed that the student made a comment to a friend about a shooting, Cork Beo reports.  

The comment sparked fear within the community, however, gardaí have assured parents that there is no threat and it is safe for their children to attend school today. 

Gardaí have spoken to the student in question and have determined that he does not possess a firearm.

Red FM reported that gardaí were inundated with calls from concerned parents after the comment was shared online.

Gardaí are investigating a threat written on a bathroom wall at a Kildare secondary school , which was closed on Tuesday over the incident. It is understood graffiti in one of the school ’s bathrooms suggested the threat of a shooting at the school . Scoil Dara, is a co -ed secondary school in Kilcock

The inquiries concern a Carraig na bhFearr boarding school run by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
