Two men have been shot and seriously injured in a car in north Dublin.

Gardai are investigating the shooting incident which happened at Killeek Lane, Dublin.

The shooting occurred in the St Margaret's Road area, just after midday.

The driver was shot up to five times.

The passenger was also shot in the back.

Their injuries are described as being life-threatening.

The scene is being sealed off by gardaí.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of an alleged shooting incident at Killeek Lane, Dublin.

Two other men were injured in the incident at Dublin 's Regency Hotel at about 14:30 local time on Friday. It is understood the gunmen were dressed as police officers and armed with AK47 assault rifles. Police investigating the suspected gangland crime have sealed off the hotel for a forensic examination.
