Ireland Gardai invite local communities to join them for 'meet and greet' day across Ireland
Student, 20, who was tragically stabbed to death at Cork house party named locally as Cameron Blair
His horrified friends immediately called an ambulance as the young men who had gate-crashed the party ran off , Cork Beo reports. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the young CIT student and he was rushed to Cork University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.Cameron had been a very keen sportsman and this morning, Bandon Athletics Club paid tribute to the young man who had competed at local and national level with them, winning medals at West Cork, County, Munster and National levels.
An Garda Siochana is holding a "meet and greet" day for the public to get to know their local officers next week.
The Community Engagement Day will be held at over 300 locations across Ireland on Friday, January 31.
Local Gardaí, Irish Farmers Association (IFA) branch representatives and representatives from community groups involved in the National Rural Safety Forum will be available to meet with members of the public.
All are welcome to attend.
Assistant Commissioner Orla McPartlin, Garda Community Relations Bureau said: “An Garda Síochána is delighted to partner with our key stakeholders in the National Rural Safety Forum in organising a National Community Engagement Day.
Gardai investigate after man cut in the face outside a south Dublin store
The victim, in his 50s, was cut in face after his assailant hit him with what is understood to be part of a belt buckle .The shop closed after the incident and remained closed for the rest of the night.Staff remained inside the store but would not make any comment.It’s understood the victim got stitches and is otherwise OK.Locals were shocked at the attack which allegedly happened after the victim went to protect his daughter from the man.
