Gardai sealed off a Kildare road overnight on Sunday after a young man suffered serious injuries following a late night assault.

The man in his 20s was brutally attacked on Tea Lane in Celbridge at around 9pm on Saturday night.

He was rushed to Beaumont Hospital a short time later with the road reopening early on Sunday morning.

A spokesman for Gardaí said: "We are investigating an assault that took place on Tea Lane, Celbridge on Saturday night at approximately 9pm.

A man in his 20 s was rushed to hospital following a stabbing incident at Newbridge train station in County Kildare on Friday evening. Two men were attacked in the incident. The man who received stab injuries was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

He added: "No arrests have being made and investigations are ongoing."
