A third person has died of coronavirus.

The Department of Health confirmed the death on Thursday night as they announced that there have now been 557 cases in the Republic of Ireland.

There was a huge increase of diagnosed cases with 191 new confirmed cases.

The average age of people getting the COVID-19 virus is 43, “a youngish profile” as Department of Health Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan described it.

At a press briefing in the Department of Health on Baggot Street in Dublin, Dr Holohan did not want to go into personal details about the latest death.
