Sardar Patel's Legacy Ignored By Previous Governments, Says PM Modi

Sardar Patel's Legacy Ignored By Previous Governments, Says PM Modi Prime Minister Narendra Modi today accused "previous governments" of ignoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's legacy as he flagged off a "Run for Unity" to mark the iconic leader's 142nd birth anniversary.Without naming the Congress party, which ruled India for decades after independence, PM Modi said: "People earlier tried their best to ensure that the contribution of Sardar Patel was forgotten and diminished...But the people and the youth of India respect him and his contribution towards the building of our nation.

UK. The Jewish Chronicle (JC) has accused Theresa May ’s government of covering up the full extent of Development Secretary Priti Patel ’s meetings with Israeli officials. No 10 however denies the claims.

• Priti Patel ’s resignation letter and Theresa May ’s response – in full. The international development minister Alistair Burt is put up in her place. Burt points out that Patel apologised for the undisclosed meetings .

The International Development Secretary is currently on a plane back to the UK from Africa with the widespread expectation that she faces the sack over unauthorised meetings with the Israeli Prime Minister and other senior Israeli figures.

Downing Street has insisted all week that the first the prime minister knew about the International Development Secretary's meetings was last Friday.

However, a new report by the Jewish Chronicle claims that Downing Street was, in fact, aware of Patel's meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu within days of it taking place.

The full extent of the meetings was reportedly suppressed by Number 10 in order to save the embarrassment of the Foreign Office, the Chronicle claims.

Theresa May has forced International Development Secretary Priti Patel to quit after she held a series of meetings with top Israeli politicians without telling the Prime Minister.

The paper reports that Patel told May about her meeting with Netanyahu, as well as the details of her plan for UK aid to be shared with the Israelis. It claims that the plan, although approved by May, was blocked by the Foreign Office.

According to the Jewish Chronicle's editor Stephen Pollard:

"Far from being unaware, Number 10 knew in full about her meeting with Mr Netanyahu, because Ms Patel had discussed it with the Prime Minister in September, prior to the UN General Assembly.

"I then discovered this morning that Number 10 had been told by Ms Patel about her meeting with Israeli foreign office official Yuval Rotem in New York and had specifically asked her not to include it.

"It is a truism that with most scandals, the real fallout comes from the cover up. My revelations today mean that there are some serious questions for Number 10 to answer about who knew what, when – including the PM."

Downing Street has yet to comment on the allegations.

Just as he predicted, a 'sex CD' of Hardik Patel arrives to discredit him .
