Airliners collide at Toronto's Pearson Airport, passengers safe

Airliners collide at Toronto's Pearson Airport, passengers safe Dozens of passengers were evacuated from an aircraft at Toronto's Pearson Airport on Friday, after a plane under tow struck an arriving jet that was waiting to park, sparking a small fire, the airport authority said. Fire and emergency services responded to the collision between the two planes from Sunwing Airlines and Westjet Airlines, which happened at 6:19 p.m. (2319 GMT), the Greater Toronto Airport Authority said in a statement.Calgary-based Westjet said it had unconfirmed reports of "minor injuries" in the incident, but that all 168 passengers and six crew members on board its plane were safe and accounted for.

This is the moment that Prime Minister Theresa May made abundantly clear that Toby Young will no longer be in public office if he continues making any of the unsavoury and vile comments from his Twitter account.

Toby Young has resigned from the universities regulator following a backlash over crude and sexist tweets he sent before his appointment.

"The caricature drawn of me in the last seven days, particularly on social media, has been unrecognisable to anyone who knows me. I am a passionate supporter of inclusion and helping the most disadvantaged, as I hope my track record of setting up and supporting new schools demonstrates.

"But some of the things I said before I got involved in education, when I was a journalistic provocateur, were either ill-judged or just plain wrong - and I unreservedly apologise," he says.
