The family of Jasmine Lovett, 25, and her daughter Aliyah Sanderson said their lives had been "devastated and our hearts are heavy" following the discovery of their bodies in woods west of Calgary on Monday.

Robert Leeming, 34, who has lived in Canada for six years, previously denied any involvement. He said he had been "traumatised" after becoming a prime "murder" suspect.

He said he had previously been romantically involved with Ms Lovett.

Cricketer Alex Hepburn Jailed For Raping Woman In Team-Mate's Room

Cricketer Alex Hepburn Jailed For Raping Woman In Team-Mate's Room A cricketer who raped a woman he found “dozing” in his team-mate’s bed has been jailed for five years. Alex Hepburn, 23, was found guilty of oral rape at a retrial earlier this month, but was cleared of a further count of rape relating to the same victim. The offence occurred during the first night of a sexual conquest “game” Hepburn helped to set up on a Whatsapp group. The Australian-born former Worcestershire CCC all-rounder is alleged to have been “fired up” by the contest to sleep with the most women, before carrying out the rape in April 2017.

A week later Leeming was arrested but was later released after being questioned. At the time police said the man they arrested remained the main suspect.

Post-mortem examinations are expected to take place, although the cause of death is not expected to be released.

The mother and daughters' family said in a statement: "Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Calgary Police Service as well as those who have worked diligently in the search for Jasmine and her baby girl Aliyah.

"We would also like to thank the public for their continued support which has meant a great deal to us.

"Our lives have been devastated and our hearts are heavy. We are trying to understand how this tragedy could have happened to our loved ones."

Germany: Three Hotel Guests Found Dead With Crossbow Bolts In Their Bodies In Bavaria.
German police are investigating the deaths of three people whose bodies were found with crossbow bolts in them in a hotel room in Bavaria. German news agency DPA reported on Sunday that employees of a hotel in the town of Passau found the bodies and two crossbows in the room. Police said the three victims, who were found on Saturday, were a 53-year-old man and two women aged 33 and 30, all of them German citizens. They said it is not clear what their relationship was, what happened inside the hotel room or how exactly the three died. There was no evidence to suggest that another person was involved in the deaths, DPA reported. Prosecutors have ordered an autopsy.
