Sitting on a red sofa, wearing a hoodie and beige trousers, Beech told the detective the Major moved on to kissing him, and later committed sex acts on him and forced him to do the same.

Beech alleged his stepfather later took him to an Army base where an officer older than Major Beech, whom he believed to be a Lieutenant Colonel, made him undress and looked at him.

Later his stepfather took him home and bathed him.

Beech wept as he told the detective: "He said I had done well and he said he was really pleased as they wanted to spend time with me and that I was to do exactly as I was told without question, without hesitation.

"He put my head under water and I couldn't breathe, and every time he let me up he kept saying 'do you understand' and I did understand, but he did do it again."

The detective had told Beech at the start of the recording that what he said in the videoed interview should be as accurate and truthful as he could be.

He told the Lords there had been hundreds of complaints from staff. The Topshop tycoon has previously "categorically and wholly" denied the claims. Today the peer revealed the account of one person who claims to have been harassed by Sir Philip who had begged him to name the tycoon publicly.
