Dublin homeowners urged to beef up security ahead of holiday season
Figures release by the Gardaí and the CSO earlier this year showed that 45% of burglaries reported in 2019 affected homed in Dublin. Of the respondents, 87.83% said asking a friend or family member to intermittently check on their home is one of their security measures. 72.87% also said that double-checking that all internal and external locks in the home are fully functional is an effective measure. Avoiding discussing their holiday plans on social media was also a good way to prevent break ins, with 67.89% thinking it is useful in avoiding breakins.
