Boy, nine, found on Brighton beach at 2am in high winds

Boy, nine, found on Brighton beach at 2am in high winds Two people have been arrested on suspicion of neglect after a nine-year-old boy was found on Brighton beach in the early hours of Saturday morning. The boy was taken into police protection after being found at 2am under the pier during the high winds, which are still reaching 47mph. He was found by members of Brighton Beach Patrol. A Sussex Police statement said: "Two adults have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and remain in custody at this stage. "The investigation is ongoing, and for this reason we would urge members of the public not to speculate around the circumstances.

A blundering fugitive was caught after using his own police wanted appeal to warn people 'If you see me keep your mouth shut'.

Brazen burglar Jack Martin, 19, posted his warning comment on his own police mugshot after it was posted on a force Facebook page.

But it backfired and Martin had been arrested after two weeks on the run, Gwent Police announced today.

Martin, from Pontypool in Wales, was wanted for allegedly breaching his licence conditions after being released from prison having previously been jailed 18 months for burglary.

In the appeal, a Gwent Police spokeswoman said: 'Due to the fact that Jack has breached his licence conditions, by displaying poor behaviour and failing to reside at an approved address he has been recalled to prison.'

But Martin’s comment brought a flood of attention to the Facebook appeal and hundreds of people shared the page.

Dean Ward also seemed amused by Martin's mugshot: 'Make sure he has a short back n sides before he goes back to Butlins.'

And officers said thanks to this online interest and how the number of shares have helped them track the fugitive.

A spokeswoman said: 'Jack Martin from Pontypool, who officers were trying to locate after he breached his licence conditions has now been arrested and taken into police custody. Thank you for your shares.'

This is a quiet, settled village and people are appalled that violence has been brought onto their streets,” she said. I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at around 10pm this evening to come forward and assist police with their investigation.
