More earth tremors have been detected in Lancashire, at the only operational fracking site in the UK, just days after a record-breaking tremor was detected.

Operations have been halted at the at the Preston New Road site, after a tremor measuring 1.05 on the Richter scale was recorded at 11.22pm on Friday night, followed by a 0.53 magnitude tremor at 5am on Saturday morning.

Cuadrilla, the private shale gas firm that runs the site, said: "This micro seismicity followed today’s pumping operations. The integrity of the well has been confirmed."
