The 19-year-old woman had been in prison for nearly two months on a public mischief charge before the hearing, after reporting she was raped by 12 Israelis at an Ayia Napa holiday resort.

They denied the allegations against them and have since returned home.

A royal protection officer has been arrested on suspicion of rape and stalking. The serving Metropolitan Police inspector has been placed on restricted duties while the claims are investigated. He was arrested on 22 August by Sussex Police, who are heading the investigation. "We can confirm a serving Metropolitan Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of rape and stalking involving serious alarm or distress," the Met Police said. The allegations are not related to his role as a royalty and specialist protection command officer, the force said.
