The remains of a man who was last known to be driving in a car over two decades ago were found thanks to a resident who discovered his car on Google Earth , according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’ s Office. For over two decades, William Moldt’ s family was left with unanswered questions

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said a previous resident was doing a Google Earth search in the area and noticed what appeared to be a car.

That previous resident contacted the current resident of the property and told him what he saw, and a drone then spotted the car underwater and the current resident contacted the sheriff.

A report of the circumstances of the man's disappearance 22 years ago stated: "Moldt had gone to an Adult Night Club on the evening of November 7, 1997.

"Moldt left the night club around 2300 hours. He did not appear intoxicated and left alone in his vehicle.

Kiril, a chef at Pizza Express, and Lana, who worked at Boots Opticians, posted photos of themselves together as they enjoyed dinner at a local pub on August 15 and celebrated their son's second birthday on August 3.

"Moldt had called his girlfriend from the bar around 2130 saying he would be home soon, and that was the last contact with him."

According to the Charley Project, which logs cold cases, the Grand Isles had been under construction at the time of Mr Moldt's disappearance.

A post on the Charley Project read: "Amazingly, a vehicle had been plainly visible on a Google Earth satellite photo of the area since 2007, but apparently no one had noticed it until 2019, when a property surveyor saw the car while looking at Google Earth."

The car is still visible on the website.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office believes Mr Moldt lost control of his car when driving home. There was no evidence of this when the investigation initially took place, but a shift in the water meant the vehicle was visible.
