  Spanish police saved from sea by smugglers they were chasing Three Spanish police officers who were thrown into the sea when their boat crashed early Friday during a high-speed chase were pulled to safety by the drug-smugglers they were chasing. The unexpected rescue happened after a police vessel began pursuing a speedboat "with four people on board that was suspected of transporting drugs" in waters off the southern coast of Spain, a police statement said.

Man was shot dead in London by officers who intercepted minicab, leading to London and England riots of 2011.

The family of Mark Duggan , whose death sparked riots across England in August 2011 The Met said it had received a civil claim and would not comment further. Mr Duggan ' s family challenged the lawful killing conclusion, but the High Court and the Court of Appeal ruled against them.

At a brief hearing in London on Thursday, Mr Justice Stewart approved a confidential settlement of Duggan’s family’s claim against the Met.

A statement on behalf of the family said: “The settlement was made after both parties engaged in mediation and reached an agreed position without acceptance of liability on the part of the MPS or its officers.

“Both sides have agreed to bring all proceedings concerning the death of Mr Duggan to a conclusion and move forward in the best interests of all those involved.”
