US News 'I had a feeling he would pull out': Dereck Chisora says he knew Joseph Parker would pull out of heavyweight clash after the New Zealander withdrew due to a SPIDER BITE
Witness in Trump-Ukraine Matter Ordered Not to Speak in Impeachment Inquiry
The Trump administration directed a top American diplomat not to appear for a scheduled interview in the House’s impeachment inquiry. The decision to block Gordon D. Sondland, the United States ambassador to the European Union, from speaking with investigators for three House committees is certain to provoke an immediate conflict with potentially profound consequences for the White House and President Trump. House Democrats have repeatedly warned that if the administration tries to interfere with their investigation, it will be construed as obstruction, a charge they see as potentially worthy of impeachment.
Dereck Chisora admits he thought Joseph Parker would withdraw from their now postponed heavyweight fight and says he has unfinished business with the New Zealander.
Parker withdrew from the October 26 fight at the O2 Arena after illness caused by a spider bite - British fighter David Price will now face Chisora instead.
But Chisora, who won his last fight against Artur Szpilka via a second-round knockout in July, told Sky Sports: 'When I met Joseph in LA, I had a feeling he would pull out. My mind was already set that he might pull out.'
Chisora admitted he had unfinished business with former WBO heavyweight title holder Parker, and was sceptical of Parker's reasoning for withdrawing.
White House says it will not cooperate with impeachment inquiry
White House counsel Pat Cipollone argued in a letter that the inquiry "violates fundamental fairness"The White House will not cooperate with House Democrats' impeachment inquiry against President Trump, White House counsel Pat Cipollone wrote in a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and three committee chairmen on Tuesday. Cipollone argued that the investigation "violates fundamental fairness and constitutionally mandated due process.
'I told him the truth [when we met] and he didn't like it. Then I heard he's got a spider bite. Whatever.'
Chisora's manager, former heavyweight champion David Haye, comically questioned whether a rearranged fight would be possible.
'If he gets well soon. What powers will he have after a spider bite? It worked out well for Peter Parker,' Haye joked.
Meanwhile, Parker's manager David Higgins insisted that his fighter is still very keen to face Chisora, but confirmed Parker had no choice but to pull out.
'He's in good spirits, he's back in training. I saw the British media sort of mocked the spider bite thing, but the honest feeling for the doctors, we think it actually was a spider bite,' Higgins maintained.
Jeff Bezos’s Master Plan
What the Amazon founder and CEO wants for his empire and himself, and what that means for the rest of us.At 55, Bezos has never dominated a major market as thoroughly as any of these forebears, and while he is presently the richest man on the planet, he has less wealth than Gates did at his zenith. Yet Rockefeller largely contented himself with oil wells, pump stations, and railcars; Gates’s fortune depended on an operating system. The scope of the empire the founder and CEO of Amazon has built is wider. Indeed, it is without precedent in the long history of American capitalism.
'I'm no expert, but it sort of destroys your immune system, your health. You are fatigued. He was ordered by medical professionals to stand down for three weeks.
'Make no mistake, we wanted to fight Chisora, we still do. We'll just see what happens.'
Nonetheless Chisora, who has a 31-9 professional record, will still fight on the 02 Arena card in nine days time against compatriot David Price, who is 25-6 in his career.
The pair are actually good friends, but Chisora exclaimed that friendship will go out the window in the lead-up to the fight.
The bout will co-headline the London event alongside Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis' world super-lightweight unification fight.
