A Pennsylvania appellate court upheld a sexual assault conviction against Bill Cosby on Tuesday, The New York Times reported.

A three-judge panel on the Pennsylvania Superior Court unanimously denied Cosby's appeal, which claimed he did not receive a fair trial when he was convicted last year of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004, according to the Times.

Cosby, 82, and his lawyers argued that allowing into evidence testimony from five other women who allege the actor drugged and sexually assaulted them caused him to be improperly convicted, but the judges disagreed.

American comedian Bill Cosby has been the subject of publicized sexual assault allegations throughout his personal life, with the earliest incidents allegedly taking place in the mid-1960s.

The former actor is serving a 3-to-10-year sentence at a prison outside of Philadelphia. He filed his appeal to the conviction in June.

"Mr. Cosby remains hopeful, and he stands behind his innocence,"Andrew Wyatt said in a statement. "It's obvious that these judges' minds were made up because they didn't take the time to dissect Mr. Cosby's appeal."
