Hospitals and clinics in Ile-de-France must prepare for "a very strong tide" new patients with Covid-19, according to the director of the ARS Aurélien Rousseau.
The Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Île-de-France decided this Thursday morning to activate the "reinforced white plan", allowing health establishments to deprogram activities, "a heavy decision" which "means that we are going to take a very strong tide and that we must put all forces into the battle", warned its director, Aurélien Rousseau.

The white plan aims to "mobilize all their resources" in anticipation of a "significant influx" of patients with"Make room" in the coming weeks. This decision is motivated by "the pressure on intensive care beds and conventional hospitalization", he added.
With 455 "Covid + patients" hospitalized in "critical care" on Wednesday, more than 40% of intensive care beds are occupied by coronavirus patients and Aurélien Rousseau had already predicted at the beginning of the week that the threshold 50% would be reached "within the next 15 days".
A spokesperson for the ARS explained that in these circumstances "the activation of level 2 of the white plan" was initiated to "anticipate a large influx of patients" and "make room" in the departments concerned.
"We give a hand to the establishments to implement reorganizations of care", which will result mainly in "deprogramming" of activities, like the Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP), which had chosen at the end September to postpone up to 20% of their surgeries.
These measures should make it possible to "reallocate staff internally". The "reinforced white plan" also opens the way to an increased use of temporary workers, or even the recall of staff on leave if necessary.
