Bad news for Alba Berlin: Six team members at the German champions have been infected with the corona virus. The upcoming Euroleague game against Vitoria has been canceled.
As the Berliners announced, five more people tested positive after the first corona finding before the canceled cup game against Braunschweig. "All six have been isolated and are under continuous medical observation. The cases have been reported to the responsible health authority, which is now deciding how to proceed," said a statement.
The Euroleague home game against Vitoria Gasteiz scheduled for Thursday has already been canceled. A new date has not yet been set. The deadline pressure on the basketball schedule is already increasing - however, depending on the quarantine measures, Berlin should not fear automatic defeats due to game cancellations in the Euroleague.

Euroleague games can be postponed up to three times
In order to create more flexibility for game schedules during the coronavirus pandemic, the Euroleague has adjusted its regulations. Accordingly, the matches in the most important European competition and the Eurocup can be postponed up to three times if the Corona crisis is directly related to it. According to a message on Monday, this is possible if a team no longer has eight players due to Corona or if a team has to be quarantined. If no alternative dates are available or if more than three additional appointments are necessary, the culprit will be declared the loser.
In the Euroleague, several games were recently automatically rated against a team that had too few players available due to the coronavirus pandemic. Accordingly, a total of four games are now rescheduled in the premier class.
This season the German champions Alba Berlin and FC Bayern Munich take part in the Euroleague, ratiopharm Ulm is active in the Eurocup. A player from Berlin tested positive for Corona on Saturday, the day before Alba had won at CSKA Moscow. The cup game of the German double winner against Braunschweig was then canceled.
