The local authorities come from the Front for the Liberation of the People of Tigray , the TPLF, which the government is fighting.
The head of the Ethiopian army, General Berhanu Jula assures us that his troops are "chasing" the members of the TPLF.
For the time being, Tigrayan officials have not reacted to these statements.
