The Ookla 5 G map will be updated with new cities as we see results. The interactive Ookla 5 G Map tracks 5 G rollouts in cities across the globe. Updated weekly from verified public sources and Ookla data, you can follow operators' newest 5 G networks on @Ookla5GMap.

Its vocation is different from the traditional coverage maps published by nPerf. Indeed, it allows to follow the progressive deployment of 5 G in the world, with Regarding the collection of 5 G measurements, it is done in the same way as for the previous technologies by our App users, with the difference that

5 G , the next generation of ultra-fast wireless, continues to expand in the US. The catch, of course, is you'll need to be in the right city with the right device to access it .

Three frequency bands

In these places, a large majority of the antennas are already installed. Telecom operators will use three different frequency bands. Antennas transmitting in the 700 MHz (pink) and 2100 MHz (green) frequency bands are already operating in 4G. Their switch to 5G will be accomplished with a simple software update. Antennas emitting in the 3.5 GHz band (in blue) are being deployed.

It contains the 500 antennas installed during the experimentation phase. Some are now perennial and can be exploited commercially, others will soon be.

5G in low band (700 MHz) offers better range and penetration in buildings but less throughput compared to 3.5 GHz. This is why the ministry has asked operators for greater transparency on their coverage and actual debit cards.
