These are the last names of a third of the Chinese population, or 433 million people according to official government figures.
The Koblenz district court sentenced an author of the online encyclopedia to a fine of 8,000 euros for deliberately distorting negative images and false claims in a Wikipedia article. His contributions in a text he co-authored about a composer and political author were "deliberately one-sided and negatively distorting", the judges decided, according to information on Wednesday in a process brought on by the author. (Az 9 O 80/20)
According to the judgment of the court in the Rhineland-Palatinate city, it was a deliberate violation of the personal rights of the plaintiff from Iceland. In the contentious contributions of the defendant, "an internal logic and comprehensibility" are just as unrecognizable as "factual criteria". Rather, all of the allegations "have in common that they put the plaintiff in a negative light and, in the opinion of the court, intended to do so," the judgment said.

According to the court, there were a large number of statements. Among other things, this included the claim that the composer was an "Icelandic chief proponent of anti-Zionism" and "Icelandic chief proponent of anti-Israel and anti-American theories", although this is not the case. In Iceland he is primarily considered a composer and peace activist. In addition, the author credited the plaintiff with the statement that the attack on Berlin's Breitscheidplatz at the end of 2016 never took place.
But it was also about biographical errors. The author alleged, among other things, that the plaintiff had given up composing concert music and devoted himself to practice pieces for children. According to the Koblenz judges, this is also wrong.
According to their information, the Wikipedia author was previously convicted in a similar case by the Hamburg district court in connection with "tendentious processing of entries on the Middle East conflict". Left-wing politicians and well-known Jewish personalities were affected by these contributions.
The Koblenz Regional Court also considered compensation to be appropriate because the plaintiff suffering from the contributions had no opportunity to publish a reply. The duration and extent of the personal rights violations also played a role. The decision is not final and can be appealed.
