At least eleven people were killed earlier this week in Kisima, in Ruwenzori sector, Beni territory. The attack was blamed on Ugandan-born ADF rebellion fighters who have stepped up incursions into the area in recent weeks. The army has decided to strengthen its presence in the area.

Tuesday evening, gunshots are heard in Kisima. The attack is bloody and the toll heavy. In this incursion, the attackers set fire to some homes. Of the eleven people found dead, two were charred in a shop, local sources report.
The day before, three other civilians had been killed still around Kisima. Similar attacks have multiplied in the Ruwenzori sector. Since the start of the year, at least 50 people have been killed in the area. The situation becomes more worrying.

A special operation has been launched by the armed forces of the DRC in Ruwenzori. The army wants to attack not only ADF fighters, but also local militias known as Mai-Mai, which are said to have distinguished themselves by attacks against military targets in particular.
In this new army campaign, alongside the military offensives, local dignitaries and deputies from the region will also be mobilized to improve relations between civilians and soldiers, thus strengthening the population's confidence in the army.
