The new Parliament has been sworn on Monday In South Sudan, realizing one of the most important promises of the 2018 Peace Agreement, which ended five years of civil war.

A total of 588 parliamentarians - from the presidential party and former rebel factions signatory of the agreement - participated in a ceremony in Juba, the capital.

The sworn delivery of this new Parliament intervenes with nearly one year behind the calendar and remains incomplete, because 62 parliamentarians were absent Monday, some because of disagreements with the government.

Monday, at least two figures of this coalition, former governor Kuel Aguer Kuel and Analyst Augustino Ting Mayai, were arrested in Juba, according to Rajab Mohandis, another popular member of this movement.
