Lower Saxony wants to further increase its capacities to initiate refugees. The aim is that people initially spend at least one week in the state admission authority before they are accommodated in the municipalities, as the Interior Ministry in Hanover announced on Wednesday evening.
The capacities at the locations of the state admission authority have always been fully utilized in the recent past, especially because of the refugees from Ukraine. By the beginning of September, more than 100,000 people from the country in Lower Saxony were recorded. There are no precise numbers of how many of the people also stay in Lower Saxony.
The country has meanwhile made an adaptation of the so -called total distribution contingent. This is intended to improve the planning options of the municipalities. Most recently, this quota for the admission of protection seekers was raised by 100,000 people in April.
In the meantime, the municipalities would have fulfilled or almost fulfilled this number. Therefore, this contingent for the next six months has been upgraded by another 70,000 people. This means that the country predicts around 70,000 other refugees during this period.
