Its design is based loosely on the sculpted, planted Acura Precision Concept.

CHEVROLET: We’ve already seen the new Silverado 1500 in its specific Trailboss trim, but the full lineup will be shown for the first time at Cobo. Speculation continues to run rampant about the mid-engine C8 Corvette, but we're not sure if that will happen this year—even in concept form—given that the C7 Corvette ZR1 is still so fresh.

FORD: The Blue Oval is reentering the mid-size pickup-truck market with a new version of the Ranger expected to debut in U.S.-spec form in Detroit. An updated Edge crossover also is on the table, and some sort of Mustang variant—either a Bullitt special edition or a supercharged GT500—could be up Ford’s sleeve.

Infiniti Previews Q Inspiration Concept Ahead of Detroit Debut

Infiniti Previews Q Inspiration Concept Ahead of Detroit Debut A small peek into the future of Infiniti designAt the moment, we're only privy to a single rear-three-quarter shot of the car. From the looks of things, it's still recognizably Infiniti, with distinctive cut-lines and drop-off edges toward the rear of the car. Beyond that, the Q Inspiration appears a bit slab-sided, with a noticeable amount of flat real estate around the doors and portions of the rear quarter panels.

GAC: Look for China’s GAC to once again make an appearance at the Detroit show. Shedding the Trumpchi brand name it uses in China—for obvious reasons—the automaker announced its plans to pull the sheets from a new multipurpose vehicle, a sedan, and an electric-car concept.

HONDA:A new dedicated hybrid [pictured above] will resurrect the Insight nameplate, and it’s said to be nicer inside than the already-nice Civic sedan on which it is clearly based.

HYUNDAI: Although the exterior has already been revealed via spy photos and the interior teased via sketches, the second-generation Veloster will make its official debut in the Motor City.

INFINITI: Nissan’s luxury brand has been without a real flagship sedan for a while, but a slinky new Q Inspiration concept signifies that it may soon plug that hole in its lineup.

JEEP: The Cherokee gets a much-needed facelift [pictured above] that brings classier and less polarizing looks to the compact crossover SUV.

KIA: Kia’s two oldest models are the Forte compact and the rear-drive K900 luxury sedan, so it’s reasonable to expect one or both to see replacements show up in Detroit. Our money is on the Forte, whose Elantra sibling was redesigned two years ago; that’s a lengthy lag time for Kia’s version.

LEXUS: Toyota’s premium brand is set to have a colorful and bright display with the unveiling of the LF-1 Limitless concept (no, there's no tie-up involving Bradley Cooper), a flagship crossover concept that likely will have extreme styling and forward-thinking tech.

MERCEDES-BENZ: The big headliner is the all-new G-class, the first completely redesigned Gëlandewagen in about 40 years. We expect a few new AMG variants to pop up, too, including versions of the recently revealed CLS-class and the E-class coupe and convertible.

MINI: It's about time for the core Mini Cooper Hardtop to receive updates, as it has gone unchanged for several years now; the company's new dual-clutch automatic gearbox won't be among them, however, as we're told that it won't come to the U.S. market quite yet.

NISSAN: So far, all we know about Nissan’s plans for Detroit are that they include an unspecified concept vehicle. This could take many forms, from a rehash of the IMx crossover show car from the 2017 Tokyo auto show to a preview of the next-generation Sentra compact to, possibly, a study looking at a resurrected Xterra SUV.

RAM: The new Silverado will have some competition in Detroit from FCA, as Auburn Hills' own half-ton pickup, the Ram 1500 [pictured above in spy photos], will be redesigned for the new year.

TOYOTA: Following the all-new Camry’s debut last year, big-brother Avalon is getting a major overhaul as it moves to the same TNGA platform.

VOLKSWAGEN: VW will unveil its latest Jetta in Detroit. A handful of teaser sketches released by the automaker show a compact sedan with more coupelike proportions and a driver-oriented interior design.
