Walking around the 2019 SEMA Show, the first thing you notice is that there are a lot of Jeeps on display—every style and type you can dream up. With so many Jeeps everywhere, it's really hard to stand out in a crowd. Well, the out-of-the-box thinkers over at Freedom Fabworks came up with a build recipe that we're sure gave Jeep purists a true WTF moment.

Based out of Flint, Michigan, Freedom Fabworks showed off this ride last year and we're liking this year's version even more. Believe it or not, this Frankenjeep started out as the tub from a 2017 Wrangler. It was chopped 8 inches and narrowed 2 inches. But, as you can see, that was only the tip of the modification iceberg. Slammed on bags with 40-inch tires and 1-ton axles creates a jeep/rat-rod combination that dares you to ignore it.

There was the usual array of first-gen Camaros for the F-body enthusiasts, and there was a great mix of Chevelles, Novas, and Tri-Fives, and even a good amount of custom full-size Chevys. One car that is getting major attention is the totally custom-fabricated 1959 El Camino called "Hulk-Camino." It's one of those "love it or hate it" cars due to the extensive bodywork, but after all, this is SEMA and pretty much anything goes. And like we said, it's all about getting attention.

To turn those huge tires 5.38 gears and zip lockers work in concert with a GM 6.0L LS mill mated to a 4L80 trans. So why is it right-hand drive? No, it's not to deliver the mail—although that would be fun—it was done to keep the four-wheel-drive system with the rest of the ride slammed on the deck.

However you slice up this freak of SEMA, it shows how taking chances can really make your ride stand out in the biggest automotive crowd on Earth.

From overland crushers to rock crawling rigs—are you not entertained? What we did not know is how many aftermarket parts manufacturers and shops would take on the Gladiator as a display vehicle for the almighty 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas. At its core, SEMA, as it is known, is an industry-only trade show for some car manufacturers and many more parts makers to show off all their project cars and available parts and accessories. For insiders, SEMA is the world's biggest toy show for those crazy about cars and trucks. This year, the most popular truck at the show had to be the Jeep Gladiator.
