First Look! SEMA 2019 Move-In Gallery Inside the Las Vegas Convention Center This is your first look at SEMA 2019 inside the Las Vegas Convention Center before the show begins. Each year, right around Halloween, the world of automotive everything converges Las Vegas, Nevada, for the biggest aftermarket car show south of the North Pole. This is the place to be if you want to see the latest trends and newest parts. Oh, and who could forget that some of the most renowned hot rod and custom car builders tend to show up and unveil their hottest new builds every year at the show.

In case you missed it, overlanding is officially a thing. For the uninitiated, overlanding is all about adventures—you guessed it—over land, usually on big wheels equipped with knobby tires. Overlanding is not necessarily rock crawling, blasting across sand dunes, or fording through streams, but can incorporate these elements and more. It is all about going off paved roads in a vehicle that's both capable of doing so and has everything you need to survive (often comfortably) in the bush. Recently, we published an entire truck comparison around the concept of overlanding and prepared a guide on what it is and what you need to bring.

What's cool about overlanding is that it opens up the potential and possibilities for truck, SUVs, crossovers, vans, and even a few rugged cars. The truck and SUV market has exploded in the last few years, and the overlanding equipment and accessory segment has followed suit, with legendary brands like ARB, Sportsmobile, Warn, Hi-lift, and Earthroamer expanding their product lines, and newcomers and outsiders like Yeti, REI, and Honda getting into the mix.

Despite our familiarity with this emerging scene, even we were surprised by the sheer volume of this off-road/adventure niche at the 2019 SEMA Show. We knew cars and trucks like the Toyota Supra and Jeep Gladiator would be popular show vehicles, but we were not prepared for the breadth of vehicles set up for overlanding and on display. From the Honda Ridgeline to Toyota Land Cruisers to Ford Ranger and Ram 1500 trucks, it seemed everywhere we looked there were awesome rigs sitting on high-clearance suspension setups, with pop-up tents on the roof racks and cooler/cooking systems down below. There was even an entire section in the Performance Pavilion of the Las Vegas Convention Center called the SEMA Overland Experience. We shot all of it and more in the gallery below.

From overland crushers to rock crawling rigs—are you not entertained? What we did not know is how many aftermarket parts manufacturers and shops would take on the Gladiator as a display vehicle for the almighty 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas. At its core, SEMA, as it is known, is an industry-only trade show for some car manufacturers and many more parts makers to show off all their project cars and available parts and accessories. For insiders, SEMA is the world's biggest toy show for those crazy about cars and trucks. This year, the most popular truck at the show had to be the Jeep Gladiator.
