Wheels can make or break the look and theme of any build, and at SEMA there are wheels of all shapes and sizes everywhere. Like paint jobs, ride heights, fender flares, bodykits, and wings, wheel trends come and go, and among the thousands of wheels at SEMA this week, a couple of trends have emerged. The first one is a modern take on the classic slanted spokes. Instead of connecting the center to the barrel with straight spokes, they are laid over on a slight angle. This style of wheel has transcended many genres from muscle cars to imports and trucks.

Speaking of trucks, steelies are another popular choice for mostly classic truck builders. The stylized versions seen here at SEMA have brought the steelie from a throwaway piece used for rolling shells around the shop to an integral part of high-end shop truck builds featuring creatively cut holes in various arrangements, shapes, and sizes. Some are a solid piece of metal! Sticking with trucks, military-esque wheels are becoming increasingly common. Though they mainly find homes on off-road vehicles, we found the design of these no-frill and simple wheels to be available for cars, too. Certainly, they are not the self-inflating, multipiece wheels that can take a bomb blast, but the simplistic design has bled into car applications.

Whether you're out at SEMA or not, the little details of many car builds are overlooked and wheel design in a huge indicator of style trends over the years. Some new trends are coming back, which begs the question, what wheels style trend will make a comeback next?

From overland crushers to rock crawling rigs—are you not entertained? What we did not know is how many aftermarket parts manufacturers and shops would take on the Gladiator as a display vehicle for the almighty 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas. At its core, SEMA, as it is known, is an industry-only trade show for some car manufacturers and many more parts makers to show off all their project cars and available parts and accessories. For insiders, SEMA is the world's biggest toy show for those crazy about cars and trucks. This year, the most popular truck at the show had to be the Jeep Gladiator.
