Lincoln is amplifying its plug-in-hybrid strategy—and doubling its number of entries to two!—with the introduction of the all-new 2021 Corsair Grand Touring. The Corsair PHEV joins the Aviator Grand Touring as the only pluggable Lincolns to date, and it offers one key differentiator from not only that model—they're different sizes, of course—but also the plug-in version of its platform mate, the Ford Escape, in its all-wheel-drive system.

Most notably, the Lincoln offers a lot more muscle, with the company stating it's aiming for a final combined output of 266 horsepower, quite the jump over the 209 chuffed up by the Escape plug-in. (Both feature an Atkinson-cycle 2.5-liter four-cylinder as the internal-combustion portion of the powertrain.) It's good, then, that the Corsair plug-in will offer standard all-wheel drive, a feature limited to the non-plug-in Escape hybrid. The rear wheels will be spun by electric motors; this type of AWD system is a first for Lincoln, although companies like Toyota have been using it for years. The transmission is a continuously variable automatic.

Lincoln says the Corsair Grand Touring will offer—fingers crossed—more than 25 miles of pure-electric range, and that it will be tuned to deliver smooth, responsive off-the-line performance befitting a luxury SUV. Also to that end, there will be plenty of available creature comforts and technology, including the Lincoln Co-Pilot360 bundle of driver-assistance and safety features and Lincoln's new phone-as-key functionality, which allows owners to lock and unlock the vehicle, call up personalized vehicle settings, start the Corsair, and open its hatch with their phones. A head-up display is also available. The rear seats slide fore and aft through six inches of travel and can be spec'd with either a 60/40 or 50/50 split, and buyers can order 24-way adjustable front seats.

Mitsubishi's Tokyo Motor Show hybrid concept might be a roofless SUV

Mitsubishi's Tokyo Motor Show hybrid concept might be a roofless SUV The company says this SUV concept will use a plug-in hybrid powertrain and an electric four-wheel-drive system. The PHEV setup is described as being low-weight, but no other details were given. Mitsubishi was one of the first manufacturers to offer a plug-in-hybrid SUV for sale -- the Outlander PHEV -- and this concept could preview a new hybrid setup for future production crossovers. While the shadowy image only shows the top half of the rear of the car, we can see a number of intriguing details. The surfacing is sharp, the trunk lid is short, and part of the taillight is visible above the rear bumper.

Aston Martin 's upcoming DBX , the brand's first SUV , isn't set to be revealed until the end of this year, but the factory in Wales where it will be built has already begun But the preproduction DBX shown in these new images reveals a number of new details that we couldn't see in previously released photos.

2021 Aston Martin DBX looks the part, likely drives it, too. The DBX comes on a new bonded aluminum platform specifically developed to support an SUV . Years of experience with the construction method helped engineers keep weight of the five-seater down to 4,940 pounds for the vehicle overall.

There's not much visually that separates this plug-in-hybrid from the other Corsairs, but that's just fine with us—the regular model is already pretty handsome. The specific touches here include unique 20-inch wheels and blue accents for the vehicle's badging and the Lincoln star up front. The 2021 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring plug-in hybrid goes on sale next summer; no pricing is yet available, but given its Grand Touring status, it's likely to sit above the current high-water mark for the Corsair, the $51,010 Reserve AWD with the 2.3-liter turbocharged engine.

Aston Martin and Gentex show off tri-camera rearview mirror system for CES .
It'll be implemented on future Aston Martin vehiclesThis tri-camera mirror system is similar to other camera mirror systems on the market today, but there’s a twist. Instead of the whole rearview mirror being one big screen, there are two smaller screens flanking the center display. These two additional screens display a feed from cameras on the car’s two side mirrors. Camera side view mirrors already exist in some cars like the Audi E-Tron and Lexus ES in other markets, but the integration is different. Instead of replacing the side mirrors with tiny camera modules, Aston Martin is keeping the mirrors and simply adding a single camera to each one.
