Order Restored: Mercedes Unveils AMG63 Versions of GLS, GLE SUVs

Order Restored: Mercedes Unveils AMG63 Versions of GLS, GLE SUVs Out in mid-2020, the 603-hp Mercedes-AMG SUVs will let discerning and well-heeled drivers terrify four passengers at once. Mercedes will create two new AMG SUVs for 2021, the GLS63 (below) and the GLE63 S (pictured above), both with 603-hp V-8s.The pair are the first AMG models to use the EQ Boost 48-volt mild-hybrid system employed in several non-AMG models. Both vehicles will go on sale in the middle of 2020. A high-end Mercedes without an AMG63 option would be like a pizza without pepperoni. It would be like a car magazine without a Corvette on the cover. It would subvert the natural order of things.

Now it's Cadillac 's turn, with the new Escalade making its debut on Tuesday. Totally overhauled for 2021 , this land-going luxury-liner rides atop new bones, features a dramatically improved interior and offers loads of innovative technology. This should easily be the best Escalade ever.

⠀ 2021 Cadillac Escalade Debuts : New Look, Interior, Tech, And Specs. Stepping outside of the 2021 Escalade , some of the SUV’s exterior elements and front grille finish will depend on the trim level. Regardless of the trim you go for, all Escalades ride as standard on massive 22-inch wheels.

How much longer will the ESV be relative to its smaller sibling? According to Cadillac, the larger Escalade model casts a shadow 226.9 inches long and sits on a 134.1-inch wheelbase. Those figures best those of the standard Escalade by 15.9 and 13.2 inches, respectively. That's none too surprising, given the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and 2021 GMC Yukon XL utilize the same underpinnings and wheelbase as the ESV.

Size aside, little else separates the Escalade ESV from the run-of-the-mill Escalade. That means ESV buyers can look forward to the same, massive curved OLED infotainment screen inside and a burly 6.2-liter V-8 engine, or turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six, underhood. All-electric sedan makes 530 hp and has a 373-mile rangeMotorTrend got an early look at the Concept i4 in January, and when we asked Kai Langer, the head of BMW i Design, about the concept's borderline offensive styling, we were met with a confident smile. BMW's designers know full well what they're doing is going to ruffle a few feathers, but it doesn't bother them at all. Their aim is to push BMW into the future, and they can't do that by catering to those who want every BMW to look like an E28 5 Series. They aren't sorry about the way this car looks.
