The European Volkswagen Passat Is Still a Lot Cooler Than the American One

The European Volkswagen Passat Is Still a Lot Cooler Than the American One A facelift for Europe's version of the Passat makes it better than ever-and better than ours.

Even though it's just gone on sale, the VW Arteon is already being discounted in the United States. Volkswagen revealed the CC-replacing Arteon for the U.S. crowd back in February 2018 at the Chicago Auto Show with the intent to have the stylish car on sale by year’s end.

In the US, the Arteon is being sold as Volkswagen ’s new flagship model with a starting price of ,845. This gets you a 268-horsepower turbocharged VW Credit has a $ 2 ,000 dealer APR bonus available together with 2 .9% financing for 60 months. On a ,000 car, taking the $ 2 , 500 incentive

Tempting or still too expensive?

VW Preparing Beefier 1.5 TSI Engine For The U.S. But VoA hasn't green-lighted the upgraded four-cylinder yet. Volkswagen unveiled the 1.5-liter TSI engine at the 37th Vienna Motor Symposium late April 2016 as a replacement for the 1.4-liter TSI. You’ll find the turbocharged four-cylinder mill in a plethora of models sold by the VW Group in Europe, from the SEAT Ibiza supermini to the fancy VW Arteon fastback. Known by its full name as the EA211 TSI evo engine, the four-banger was effectively launched on the market late that year on the Old Continent and went on to spawn a thrifty derivative in August 2017.

The Volkswagen Arteon sportback has the same engine and AWD system as the Golf R but uses an 8-speed automatic instead of a dual clutch DSG. This is done to make the Arteon smoother, to suite North American tastes. The Volkswagen Arteon will be sold with one trim in Canada and fully

Volkswagen already sells a larger, four-door car in the Passat but the two won’t ever get confused for each other. The Passat is one of the more anonymous vehicles on the road, while the Arteon oozes style. It keeps the CC’s fastback profile, which does give the Arteon a unique shape outside the

Volkswagen revealed the CC-replacing Arteon for the U.S. crowd back in February 2018 at the Chicago Auto Show with the intent to have the stylish car on sale by year’s end. However, things didn’t go as planned since Wolfsburg’s Audi A5 Sportback was delayed due to the switch from NEDC to WLTP in Europe, which caused a backlog in meeting the stricter emissions regulations. The U.S.-spec Arteon was put on the back burner, but now it has finally arrived stateside.

Launching a new vehicle in the U.S. that’s not a crossover or an SUV is a bit of gamble nowadays, and VW is well aware the Arteon is facing a tough future. In an attempt to lure in more buyers, it looks like there’s a sweet $2,500 discount available as a dealer cash incentive. Bear in mind this doesn’t necessarily mean the attractive five-seater can be had with this price cut at any dealer across the U.S. As CarsDirect points out, it’s up to the dealers to decide whether they want to pass this discount along or keep the car’s asking price intact to make a higher profit.

The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon Is Finally Going on Sale in the U.S. This Summer

The 2019 Volkswagen Arteon Is Finally Going on Sale in the U.S. This Summer After homologation delays, the car will reach dealerships a bit less than a year later than it was originally planned. Volkswagen's stylish new Arteon was delayed for the U.S. market but will finally reach dealerships in summer 2019. The rakish hatchback slots in above the mainstream Passat and will offer a more luxurious vibe, likely at a considerably higher price point. The Arteon, essentially a replacement for the CC, rides on VW's MQB platform and will come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine in the U.S. Originally promised to hit U.S.

Replacing the Passat CC, the New 2019 Volkswagen Arteon is a very stylish 4 door sedan with a coupe like silhouette. Built off the new VW MQB platform and powered by a detuned VW Golf R 2 .0L Turbocharged engine, the performance and handling of this larger sedan will not disappoint.

The 2019 VW Arteon made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show, boasting a 2 .0-liter TSI engine and 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard, along with a multitude of premium features and a class leading “The Arteon is Volkswagen ’s brand shaper,” stated North American CEO, Hinrich J. Woebcken.

With no new Touareg available in North America and a next-gen Phaeton still likely a few years away, the Arteon has been promoted to flagship status. It starts off at $35,845 and undercuts the Audi A5 Sportback by nearly $8,400, but some might find the rear-wheel-drive Kia Stinger GT with its powerful V6 more tempting at around $39,000 before discounts.

The Arteon might prove to be a better deal through financing. For example, VW Credit has a $2,000 dealer APR bonus available together with 2.9-percent financing for 60 months. Considering an Arteon specced to a price tag of around $38,000 and factoring in the aforementioned $2,500 incentive, it would set you back $40,195 for a 60-month loan at 5 percent. Financing would lower the price by almost $1,500, to $38,717.

CarsDirect compared the Arteon with the Accord 2.0 Touring and found out the VW is $23 more expensive to lease monthly than the Honda and at the same time $123 pricier than a base Stinger. VW offers a lease on the Arteon from $429 for 39 months with $3,499 to pay at signing, so it’ll effectively cost you $519 per month. There’s also a 10,000-mile limit per year to take into consideration before signing your name on the dotted line.

Previous reports have stated VW could spice up the Arteon with a more practical wagon variant and a beefier 400-horsepower R variant equipped with a new turbocharged VR6 engine. However, it remains to be seen if these will eventually see the light of day and whether they’ll be coming to the U.S.
