  High-end branded car audio systems: Are they worth the money? Here's a closer look at what goes into the creation of these often expensive audio upgrades.Before its partnership with Jeep , McIntosh worked directly with Harley-Davidson, Subaru and Ford on branded audio systems; the latter is exclusive to the 2005-2006 Ford GT. It also offered very high-end aftermarket car audio systems for a while, and has been around as a company since 1949.

Mercedes has announced a series of updates for the 2021 CLS . While it eschews a facelift, the CLS features a revised color palette that now includes Cirrus Silver and Mojave Silver. Moving into the cabin, there are two 10.25- or 12.3-inch displays. The latter are standard in the United States but, globally, the Mercedes noted the system has artificial intelligence and this allows for predictive functions such as suggesting to call a certain people your regularly talk to on a specific day of the week. The system can also be equipped with high- tech options such as augmented reality navigation which shows a live

The tweaked grille gains a three-dimensional Mercedes -Benz star pattern with a chrome-glass surface. The LED headlights are clear at the outer corner, rather than being amber on the current model. At the back, there are chrome, trapezoidal exhaust tips. Inside, the 2022 CLS has a tweaked steering wheel with capacitive sensors for controlling the vehicle's features, and it has a Nappa leather covering. Buyers have the expanded trim choices of Open Pore Brown Walnut and High-Gloss Grey Wood. Two-tone Neva Grey/Magma Grey and Sienna Brown/Black are new leather upholstery choices.

A year after Mercedes-Benz gave the third-gen CLS-Class a generous mid-cycle refresh, it’s sprinkling on a few extra goodies.

As of last summer, the suave, swoopy Benz sedan received an updated MBUX infotainment system and a raft of driver-assist tech that we recently sampled on the model’s more sedate-looking brother, the E-Class. As of early 2022, CLS-Classes will also boast an edgier, AMG-influenced grille and the fancy capacitive steering wheel from the ’21 E 450. More on that in a bit.

The Mercedes -Benz CLS has been given a mid-life makeover, gaining a raft of styling upgrades, a new mild-hybrid diesel powertrain and a limited-edition version of AMG’s range-topping 429bhp CLS 53 4Matic+. The four-door coupé received a number of updates to its driver assistance and infotainment systems last year, so this facelift focuses on design changes, including a revised grille and bumpers. Also new for 2021 is the Spectral Blue Metallic paint shown here. The interior now features a number of new trim options, with additional use of leather and a new steering wheel design.

The AMG-specific front grille showcases a new texture: a nifty matrix of three-pointed stars finished in a dark chrome and offset by two simple spears on either side of a properly large-and-in-charge Benz logo. The design cue is one of several elements of “AMG Line” finery that trickles down from the full-bore AMG cars and, beginning in 2022, comes standard on all CLS-Class models. Regardless of terminology, the CLS wears its new mouthpiece well.

Apart from a new paint color (including Starling Blue Metallic, shown on the right), there are no other aesthetic changes for the 2021 model year—and, frankly, this handsome bruiser doesn’t need many tweaks to its sheetmetal. The first generation, which debuted in 2004 as one of the first “four-door coupes,” looked like an E-Class over which someone had dozed off holding a heat gun; the second and third generations (2010–17 and 2018–present) straightened their spines and took on a more distinguished, look-me-in-the-eyes posture. The ’21 CLS-Class somehow manages to be slinky—despite its 115.7-inch wheelbase, which is only 2.4 inches shorter than a 2021 Honda Odyssey’s.

Mercedes -Benz has unveiled the 2021 CLS facelift. The car receives a number of cosmetic changes and revisions all around, giving the four-door coupe a more modern appeal. Similar to the exteriors, the cabin of the new CLS is offered with a host of changes and updates, which include a new steering wheel , leather seats and other features and equipment.

The 2022 CLS doesn't get any mechanical upgrades from the 2021 model, but the aesthetic changes are nice. The most significant change to the vehicle's styling comes in the form of a new front end with an updated bumper and a new grille that features a repeating Mercedes star pattern as well as a new rear bumper. Inside, it's the steering wheel that gets the most attention. It now features capacitive sensors and is wrapped in soft Nappa leather. There are also a host of new color and trim options for the interior.

The other significant change can be found inside the vehicle, front and center for the driver. Though the three-spoke steering wheel design is very similar to before, but the buttons on each spoke and the tech baked into it is refreshed. The thumb-operated cruise-control, media, and menu-access buttons are touch-sensitive, requiring only a tap or swipe. The rim, thanks to a web of sensors embedded just under its surface, can detect whether you’re touching the steering wheel; the adaptive cruise-control/lane-keeping programs rely on the presence of your fingers, rather than steering inputs, to determine your alertness.

The powertrain remains the same: a buttery-smooth, turbocharged straight-six assisted by a 48V mild-hybrid system and mated to a nine-speed automatic. Total power sits at 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

Equipped with a bevy of interior color choices, a handsome exterior, and a polished powertrain, the lightly tweaked 2021 CLS-Class will continue to attract deep-pocketed customers who like the E-Class but want to roll in a heavier-weight class. Mercedes-Benz hasn’t released pricing for the 2021 model, but the 2020 CLS 450 starts at $71,350 with destination and zero options. Don’t expect much to change when the new models hit dealer lots sometime in early 2022.

The 2021 BMW M5 Competition is much easier to live with .
Retuned suspension components make the BMW M5 a little softer, resulting in a much more comfortable daily driver.To give you some context, the previous M5 Competition was so stiffly sprung that it made this sport sedan almost unlivable day to day. Even in the suspension's default Comfort setting, you could feel every little bump and blemish. It was kind of a nightmare.
