It comes with plenty of standard features too.

It’s official: The 2022 Ford Maverick is coming on June 8, 2021. The company also announced an ad campaign starring Gabrielle Union. Arguably the most tangible and tantalizing tidbit in Dearborn’s teaser for the Maverick comes courtesy of the truck ’s tailgate badging. Look quickly at the lower left part of the tailgate around the eight-second mark of the video above and you might just notice the small “ Hybrid ” badge We’ll have full coverage of the 2022 Ford Maverick when it debuts next week (June 8), including dishing up details on its powertrain options, specs, and towing and hauling capabilities.

The Ford Maverick small truck will finally debut on June 8. Actress Gabrielle Union will help the Blue Oval present the new pickup, including appearing in the model's promotion on Instagram, Tiktok, and Hulu, among other social media channels. The two pre-launch promo videos define the types of We are expecting the truck to have the same powertrains , too. This would mean buyers could get a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder making 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts) and 177 pound-feet (240 Newton-meters) of torque or a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 hp (186 kW) and 275 lb-ft

While it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Ford's forthcoming compact pickup would take the name Maverick, it turns out the Blue Oval never actually confirmed that tidbit ... until now. It's official: The 2022 Ford Maverick is coming on June 8, 2021. The company also announced an ad campaign starring Gabrielle Union.

Arguably the most tangible and tantalizing tidbit in Dearborn's teaser for the Maverick comes courtesy of the truck's tailgate badging. Look quickly at the lower left part of the tailgate around the eight-second mark of the video above and you might just notice the small "Hybrid" badge located on the pickup's rear end. That's right, it seems the Maverick will offer a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain right out of the gate. Given the little pickup almost certainly shares its underpinnings with the Escape and Bronco Sport, the Maverick likely cribs the 200-hp gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain from the former SUV (it may also indicate Ford's plans to put this powertrain in the Bronco Sport, as well).

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 First Drive: Thunder Macher!

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 First Drive: Thunder Macher! Rest in thunder, 2016 to 2020 Shelby GT350. Your ethereal 5.2-liter Voodoo V-8 was too good for this low-redline world; not even the recently introduced, supercar-baiting GT500’s 7,500-rpm cutoff can match your 8,250-rpm supernova scream. Your loss is so profoundly felt we’ve been casting about for some car—any car—to fill the hole in our heart. But that car won't be the new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1. Not because it's not great, but because it's not supposed to be.

The Ford Maverick will either be a hybrid or at least have at least one hybrid variant. I mean, it's not the most shocking thing in the world. It is a new car in 2021, after all. The hybrid Ford Maverick won't be the first or only electrified truck in Ford 's lineup, of course, as the company has hybridized its F-150 with that truck 's PowerBoost variant and recently debuted the electric F-150 Lightning. For full details on the 2022 Ford Maverick , check back here next week .

The 2022 Ford Maverick will be revealed in a rather unique way as well – on actress Gabrielle Union’s personal Instagram and TikTok accounts, in addition to Hulu and Ford ’s social media channels. The Maverick will also be the very first Blue Oval vehicle to be revealed on Ford ’s U.S. TikTok channel A naturally aspirated four-cylinder remains a possibility for the entry-level model to keep costs down, while the Maverick will also come with a hybrid powertrain option. The Maverick be built alongside the Ford Bronco Sport at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant, with which it shares the Ford C2 Platform

Other noteworthy aspects pulled from this teaser are the truck's black front-fender garnish, offset rear license plate, and Ranger-like taillights. The tailgate stamping, meanwhile, looks a bit more like that of the 2020 F-150's than the newer 2021 model.

We'll have full coverage of the 2022 Ford Maverick when it debuts next week (June 8), including dishing up details on its powertrain options, specs, and towing and hauling capabilities.
