Tested: 2022 Kia Carnival Fancies Up the Minivan

Tested: 2022 Kia Carnival Fancies Up the Minivan Kia's new van looks great and pleases its driver, but it's almost too nice inside for kids. Not only does the Carnival have a new name and Kia's attractive new logo, its design looks fresh and modern. After the Pacifica's mid-cycle refresh, the Kia is a contender for best-looking van. The textured grille makes a strong first impression, and the interesting shiny C-pillar trim is an upscale touch. We don't fully buy into Kia's assertion that it looks more like an SUV than a van, but as minivan aficionados we like the unapologetically boxy shape.

Kia 's compact SUV has gone for big -time tech and an in-your-face look . Oh, and it comes with a gigantic screen and a sleek new shape. It's a reimagining the Sportage desperately needed—the current model debuted way back in 2016 for the 2017 model year. The Sportage 's styling turned heads a half-decade or so ago (it was certainly provocative, by the standards of the time), but now it just looks stale.

Inside, the Sportage looks far more upscale than its predecessor. A digital instrument cluster and large widescreen infotainment system look to be mounted under a single piece of glass. This large fixture is flanked by shapely air vents on either side. A rotary shifter is visible on the center stack along with an Kia has still not released mechanical details about the new Sportage , but we have an idea of what to expect from the U.S. version. The powertrain lineup is likely to mirror the Tucson's, meaning a 2.5-liter inline-four will serve as the base engine with possible hybrid and plug-in-hybrid derivatives to follow.

Hyundai and Kia are clearly rivals, albeit sibling rivals. The two brands feature overlapping offerings, each with a distinct character and design. This competition is proving very good for consumers with an eye for style, as the two brands trade bleeding-edge design broadsides. Take, for instance, the Hyundai Ioniq 5's neo-retro vibe. Kia's EV6 rides on the same platform, with an equally avant-garde look—but much sleeker. The EV6 is part of Kia's forward-looking "Opposites United" design philosophy. Kia's electric SUV may have forged this design language, but the brand new 2023 Kia Sportage is going to be its crucible.

2023 Cadillac Lyriq First Look: Wait, This Electric SUV Isn’t the Concept Car? If an electric SUV from Cadillac is on your wish list, listen up, because General Motors has pulled forward production of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, a midsize electric crossover that will be available a year from now with a starting price of $59,990. Originally the Lyriq was slated to appear late in 2022 or early in 2023. © Motor Trend Staff 2023 Cadillac Lyriq EV SUV 5 How did Cadillac manage to pull the project forward by a full nine months? Testing is ahead of schedule.

These first images of the new compact SUV confirm that it will look far more modern both inside and out. We've already gotten an idea of what the next Kia Sportage will look like, and now Kia has shared some teaser images showing the exterior and interior of the new version of its compact SUV. The company also confirmed that the Sportage will make its global debut in July, meaning it should reach the U.S. market early in 2022 as a 2023 model.

Also seen with the 2022 Kia Sportage is the reworked version of the Tiger Nose grille now called the Digital Tiger Face. The black meshed grille spans the whole fascia (no surprise there), while the boomerang-shaped DRLs separate it from the low-mounted headlamps. On the sides, the fifth-generation Sportage has clean lines accentuating the clean body Inside, the Kia Sportage touts a contemporary cabin design, spearheaded by the curved display that combines the instrument and the infotainment. Even the air vents are designed to highlight the dashboard, along with the two-tone cabin.

You're looking at the home market version, so expect to see more details about the U.S.-market 2023 Sportage in the near future. Whatever else changes in terms of content between the two, the styling inside and out ought to remain largely the same. It's a reimagining the Sportage desperately needed—the current model debuted way back in 2016 for the 2017 model year. The Sportage's styling turned heads a half-decade or so ago (it was certainly provocative, by the standards of the time), but now it just looks stale.

Especially next to the new model. Look at the complex interplay between the boomerang running lights and the new "Digital Tiger Face"—a paired design element that sits above, and complements, a complex and contemporary grille. As is the trend, the actual headlamps are less prominent than the running light arcs. Below the grille, a wide lower intake and fog lamps sit below a body-colored chinstrap. The sides are deeply sculpted, and the kicked-up D-pillar garnish is a neat variation on the floating roof theme, which will surely be enhanced with the option of a contrasting black-finished roof. The rear plays with some EV6 styling concepts (albeit with less dramatic, larger taillights), but on the whole, this is a bold look for Kia compact SUV. In fact, it barely registers as a relative of today's Sportage.

Despite diesel scrapping premium and environmental bonus , Kia wants to continue to build diesel cars and develop appropriate drives in Rüsselsheim.

A new Kia Sportage boasting sporty styling and available hybrid powertrains is on the way. The Sportage will most likely be launched for the 2023 model year, as Kia has already announced that its current Sportage , on sale since the 2017 model year, carries over unchanged for 2022. The prototype in our spy shots hints at a more rounded design for the Sportage compared to the latest Tucson, with elements like a clamshell hood up front and the pinched leading edge of the tailgate looking similar to what we see on Kia 's recently revealed EV6 electric crossover.

Hardly a month goes by now where we don’t hear about several new electric cars and crossovers on the way to the U.S. from all manner of automakers big and small. The Kia Sportage offers something for everyone, whether it be good looks , practicality or comfort. What it does particularly well is to provide a balanced approach to the suburban SUV class of vehicles; its exterior looks are arguably the most attractive in its group, it has a well-built and comfortable The LX is a good choice for families on a budget that are looking for a safe and reliable compact SUV. The Kia Sportage started out its life back in 1993, with a rather bulbous look which has been refined over the years into one of the best looking compact SUVs on the market. These new renderings show off a possible Sportage that looks like it shares its dimensions with the current model. From the front, they show off an ascending sill line, and a different placement of the door handles; fine details that make a big difference. The front is seriously good to look at, and the rendered Sportage 's grille and headlight combination remind us somewhat of contemporary Lexus models.

The interior has almost as much of the sci-fi shuttlecraft look as the EV6's cabin. The most prominent part is the massive curved slab, a fusion of infotainment and instrument display that comes off a bit like a junior varsity version of the Mercedes-Benz Hyperscreen. It sweeps across an elegant dash, terminating where a large air vent and trim piece picks up and sweeps clear to the door card. There are contrasting material colors melded with piano black and bright metal—particularly in the large, solid-looking interior door handles.

In terms of equipment—powertrains, options, and so forth—we have scant details. But we do get a glimpse of the more rugged-looking X-Line version, with a much different lower front fascia, blocky side sill trim, a patterned rear bumper, and the addition of a roof rack. Inside, sage green or black trimmed seats pair with quilted accents and "black metal wood" for a premium outdoorsy feel. Sadly, it seems we'll have to wait to get a glimpse of this chic-sounding interior decor.

Tested: 2021 Alpina XB7 Brings What BMW M Won't .
German tuning house Alpina upgrades BMW's highest-performing X7 SUV on its own terms. We've previously driven the three-row XB7 in Germany—exclusively on a tight, challenging racetrack no less—and we've already tested the mechanically similar Alpina B7 sedan, so driving the XB7 around our home base was not entirely unfamiliar. Unlike the B7, which sits below the pricier, V-12-powered M760i in the 7-series lineup (despite being the better of the two cars to drive), the $142,295 XB7 is the top-dog X7. Lording over the $100K M50i model with which it shares its foundation and twin-turbo 4.
