This Flat-Plane Crank Corvette Z06 Sounds Intoxicating

This Flat-Plane Crank Corvette Z06 Sounds Intoxicating You've never heard an LS7 like this before. The Mustang GT350's "Voodoo" V8 isn't the only piece of American muscle capable of rocking a flat-plane crank. The owner of this last-gen Corvette Z06 decided it would be a good idea to equip its 7.0-liter LS7 engine with a flat-plane crank layout, and now it sounds like something straight out of the Ferrari factory in Maranello. It’s Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals After Hours Live! Presented By Mecum Auctions and OPGI! This is the 10 th anniversary of MCACN and we are live on Saturday Night November The Brothers Collection is home to both cars , and we had a lot of fun with this episode of Muscle Car Of The Week!

When it launched back in 2009, the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals seemed like something a little different for the muscle car crowd, an alternative to the summertime outdoor events typically held at race tracks or fairgrounds. In fact, some eyebrows may have been raised when Bob Ashton and his

Funny, it's the week before Thanksgiving when huge snowflakes are floating gently onto the pavement outside the Donald E Stephens Convention Center, where inside 586 of the finest muscle cars and Corvettes anywhere in the world are registered and absolutely titillating the thousands of people inside, along with maybe 100 more vehicles in vendor spaces, such as by Mecum Auctions and restoration shops such as Classic Revival Auto Restorations from Colesburg, Iowa and Magnum Auto Restorations in Oklahoma City.

This is the 10 th year for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals and once again it has proven to be an eye opener. There can be no denying that if you are into muscle cars and Corvettes then the once a year get together in suburban Chicago is the place for all of us.

The 10 th annual Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals held in suburban Chicago this past weekend is known as “The Pebble Beach of Muscle Cars ,” offering the best of Detroit’s performance cars of the 1960s and 1970s. Which made it that much more difficult to spend my imaginary currency on cars I

Car clubs are there and judges are judging, like Bob Perkins and Rick Campbell from the Mustang Club of America. We also saw Frank Badalson, whose specialty is Mopars. Roger Gibson of Gibson Restorations was purported to be there, but the show is so large we did not run across him. Men with clipboards and judging sheets, four, six, and sometimes eight judges per car descend upon the cars like "to heck with winter, we are still enjoying our car hobby!"

Craig Jackson of Barrett-Jackson brought both Li'l Red and The Green Hornet, two Shelby-American prototypes, the former a barn find, and the latter restored. We also counted a dozen cars spaced 360 degrees in the huge Mecum Auctions tractor-trailer rig. You will also see in our photos the biggest group of barn finds ever, 20 or so of various makes, including a Hemi-powered Plymouth GTX convertible and an SS AMX—oh, even a Devin for sports car lovers. Every car wore its original dust.

This 1055-HP Corvette Z06 Drag Car Sounds Delightful.
It's hard to beat a V-8 rumble as deep as this one. The Chevy Corvette Z06 sounds fantastic from the factory, but like most cars, a bit of aftermarket magic does wonders. It's now making over 1000 horsepower to the wheels, and lays down sub 10-second quarter-mile times. It sounds just wonderful doing it.
