Radical 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Reappears at Super Chevy After a Decade of Upgrades

Radical 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Reappears at Super Chevy After a Decade of Upgrades Keith Seaman has been building Chevys since he was a teen. Now he owns KMS Kustoms where he transforms 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle into beasts.

Seriously, this is the type of car everyone stops and notices.

Pretty much everyone loves American muscle cars, and few have the reputation or the instant-cool factor that this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 boasts. This machine has been lovingly restored, so you can enjoy all the original unbridled power and raw performance, thanks to Flemings Ultimate Garage.

1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS396 Spends 43 Years Stuck in a Pole Barn

1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS396 Spends 43 Years Stuck in a Pole Barn When Russ Johnson parked his 1967 SS396 Camaro in a pole barn he had no idea it would remain parked in this same spot for the next 43 years. "I guess with family and kids coming along, it just got put on the back burner," he says. Russ bought this Camaro used in February 1972, when a 396 under the hood was just what he wanted. He wasn't looking for any special factory formula. Today, collectors look for the highest performance factory 396, the solid-lifter L78 option.

With only three previous owners, nice restoration, and full documentation, this Chevelle SS396 is a rare find. The paint looks absolutely stunning, plus the mirror finish 78 coded Black Cherry metallic paint is what GM applied in the factory. Thanks to show wax and detailing job, this ride is ready to really impress. You can also see each body panel is perfect, while the car rides on SS 5 spoke Magnum 500s with BFG radial T/As. That restored look also comes with the original bill of sale, Protect-o-Plate, window sticker, and warranty info.

Just as impressive is the interior, which features the optional front bucket seats and optional factory center console. The upholstery has been restored recently so it genuinely shines. You get the full 1970 model year experience with the optional factory AM/FM stereo, showing just how dedicated the previous owner was to preserving this muscle car icon. As a nice little bonus, there’s the optional factory air conditioning so you’re not suffering on hot summer days.

Mechanically, this ride is thrilling. The 396 Chevrolet Mark IV Big Block V8 has matching numbers and kicks out a healthy 350-horsepower, so literally burning rubber is something you can do all day. To handle all that, there’s a heavy-duty Turbo 400 automatic transmission plus the 12-bolt heavy-duty Posi-Traction rear axle. The dual exhaust system is factory correct and features the OE tips, so you get the right rumbling sound and not something else. With fast-ratio power steering and factory power disc brakes, you can keep this car on the straight and narrow when needed.

Chevelles are one of the biggest legends from the golden age of American muscle cars, making them highly sought after and very collectible. The fact this SS396 is in such great shape is nothing short of amazing, so now is your time to make a solid investment before prices increase again.
