The crew at DWS Classics in Huntington Beach, California, is truly comprised of early Chevrolet C10 fans. DWS Classics' owner, Darin Smith, is always open to grab a C10 if a deal presents itself. During some searching through ads on Craigslist for a grille and stainless trim, he observed several C10s in various states of disassembly behind a farmhouse—and he knew he was in the right place. Darin asked about some more parts and what the owner might be doing with some of the trucks lying around. One of the trucks Darin asked about was the truck you see here. Walking along, Darin and the farmer saw another C10 shortbed, a '63. Darin asked about a package deal for the two shortbed C10s and a few parts. With very little haggling, a deal was quickly agreed upon. To this day, Darin and the farmer have stayed in touch—a good source of C10 parts is always important.1964 Chevy C10- Huntington Beach Blues© Truck Trend Network Staff

Shortly after their arrival at DWS Classics, both trucks were treated to a quick patina finish and were up and running on the streets of Huntington Beach as shop trucks. Gino Capps, Darin's close friend and right-hand man at DWS Classics, took a liking to the '64 C10 and ended up driving it quite a bit. Fast-forward a couple of years, and while contemplating the coming year's shop build and what it might be, Darin and Gino discussed the possibility of building the '64 C10 shop truck. Darin mentioned he'd make a few calls the next morning to some of their previous sponsors to see if there'd be any interest. By noon the following day, most of the partners were committed to the build!

1953 Chevy Corvette Tribute Pays Homage To A Legend

1953 Chevy Corvette Tribute Pays Homage To A Legend The donor car provides some solid power for a great driving experience. Of all the classic American cars on the market, one that consistently fetches high prices is literally any 1953 C1 Corvette. For that reason alone, considering this 1953 Chevrolet Corvette Tribute isn’t a bad idea. It’s a far more affordable way to get the look of the car, but without taking out a third mortgage. This replica car is being offered for sale through AutoBarn Classic Cars.

DWS Classics quickly tore the truck down to a bare cab and chassis. The cab and the frame were sent out for media blasting at Primo Powder Coating in Huntington Beach. From there, the frame went to Paint by Fernando for the POR15 gloss black finish to be applied. DWS Classics got the frame back to the shop and began the process of installing various tubular suspension pieces, four-wheel disc brakes, and crossmembers from CPP in Placentia, California. The decision was made to reinforce the stock trailing arms, drill speed holes, and install polished brass bezels into said speed holes. The same treatment was given to the front and rear bumper brackets as well. While this was happening, the cab went to Paint by Fernando for bodywork. The decision was made to add two new doors, fenders, a core support, front bed panel, and a new tailgate from Truck Shop of Orange, California.

Ray Fields bought this 1964 Chevy C 10 pickup truck, sold it, and bought it back again, before freshening it up a bit. Ray Fields has always liked the lines of the ’64 Chevy C 10 and, in 1988, he bought one at the well-known Pomona Automotive Swap Meet located in Southern California.

While the various parts and cab were in the paint shop, the drivetrain was starting to take shape. JEGS sent out an ATK High Performance Engine 383 stroker with 425 horses and 475 lb-ft of torque. Then it was decided a Hilborn electronic fuel injection unit would poke through the hood, as has been DWS Classics' trademark in every full build. B&M sent a TH400 with a 2,300-rpm-stall converter to get the C10 moving. Dutchman Axle sent out a couple of axles, and Eaton sent a posi unit and 3:73 gears to J&S Gear in Huntington Beach for final assembly. Not only would this truck run hard, but it would be streetable and somewhat freeway friendly. Darin and Gino agreed a set of 19x8 and 20x10 Budnik Muroc IVs were exactly what they were looking for. Falken Azenis FK510s were a no-brainer, with the front sized at 245/35/19 and the rear at a wide 275/45/20. Helping to get the power down—and for incredible handling—DWS Classics turned to Viking Performance for its double-adjustable, aluminum -bodied shocks.

Having an impressive rolling chassis and drivetrain completed, DWS Classics set about finding the perfect mix of colors for the C10. Vierstra Designs had already completed a rendering, composed of a turquoise metallic and white finish. They loved the GM color Seafoam Green but needed something custom—not stock. A custom PPG color was formulated and lovingly named Bitch-Eyes Blue, after right-hand man Gino Capps. The top was painted GM Work Truck White, and the interior a custom gold metallic mix. The first coat of clear has House of Kolor's Ice Pearl Gold Pearl Flake, which was applied to the exterior, interior, all suspension parts, and the custom wood bed slats. The results are impressive, especially in good lighting. After the paint was buffed to a show shine, the crew at DWS Classics, with help from several friends, began the task of assembling the body.

With a nearly completed truck, it came down to a few last details. A radiator and core support cover were made out of carbon-fiber by Nevill Ooms of Smooth Livin' in Huntington Beach. Velocity stack tops, or "bells," were incorporated in the design of the radiator/core support cover. The custom Curly Maple bed wood and unique color were created by Girelli Designs of Huntington Beach. DWS Classics also added polished velocity stack tops (in two rows of four) over a B&M transmission cooler underneath the bed wood. A pull fan mounted to the transmission cooler pulls air through the holes in the bed.

1964 Chevy Nova V8 Wagon Runs Strong

1964 Chevy Nova V8 Wagon Runs Strong This wagon is also super clean inside and out. Driving a vintage car can be a lot of fun, especially since they have more character than vehicles made these days. However, you likely will find the cargo capacity isn’t stellar, unless you opt for something like this 1964 Chevrolet Nova V8 Wagon. Fold down the rear tailgate and you have access to plenty of room to take along whatever you need for a cruise, car meet, or any other activity. As you can clearly see in the photos, this classic Chevy is ready to be put on display.

This 1969 Chevy C 10 belongs to Darin Smith, of Huntington Beach , CA, and blends elements of '67 and '68 styling with a potent 454ci V8 under the hood. Glancing at the front end, you'll see cues that indicate it might be a 1967 or '68 model: the lower-profile hood, " Chevrolet " lettering, and grille style

Every show vehicle needs a show-worthy interior, so the DWS Classics crew went with their friends at Bill Dunn Upholstery in Huntington Beach, which designed an Impala-themed gold interior with a custom console and a stock bench seat. The console uses polished Velocity stack bells with polished brass inserts, neatly tying in the velocity stack theme from front to back. All dash knobs, window crank knobs, and even the B&M shifter handle side plates were made of polished brass, thanks to John at Banzai Machine. Gauges are the new RTX gauges from Dakota Digital for an old-school yet modern look, which matches the interior's theme. The interior really pops with a one-off custom gold carpet with silver strands that was hand-tufted by Start Carpet by Rodeo of Fountain Valley, California. Tom of Beach Audio in Huntington Beach added a Kenwood head unit, big amp, B&W speakers, and compact subwoofer by PowerBassUSA.

Gino Capps and his family proudly showed their revised old "shop truck" at SEMA 2018, where it was nominated for a Good Guys Gold Award Participant. After hitting the show circuit for a year, Gino and family say they intend to drive the Chevy to local shows, cruise nights, and various functions. Gino adds, "You can't trailer something like this around—it's meant to be driven!" We couldn't agree more.
