VanDerBrink Auctions is hosting the sale of the Adair Collection, a gathering of pre-war metal that includes a generous smattering of 1932 Mopars, set for November 14 in Atchison, Kansas. There are eighteen 1932 Dodge, Plymouth, and DeSoto sedans, roadsters, coupes, and convertibles available that range in from restorations to hot rods. These may not be the infamous Ford “Deuce,” but these classics have great lines of their own and lend themselves to the same kinds of modifications as any other hot rod.

One particular red-on-tan Plymouth rumble seat roadster looks fun to drive, with its 302 Ford V-8 swap. It only seems fair to run a Ford small-block in these Mopars, as many 1932 Fords saw their flathead V-8s swapped with early Dodge, DeSoto, or Chrysler Hemi V-8s. Of course, if you’re a die-hard Mopar fan, we wouldn’t harbor any ill will if you bought this Plymouth and dropped in one of those early Hemis. Or a 426, for that matter.

Many of the cars up for sale are listed as older restorations that ran when parked. Perhaps those are better left in their factory appearance, but there’s one 1932 DeSoto roadster (above) that is in desperate need of some attention. With no interior, a wrinkled fender, and rusted running boards, this project has a long way to go. On the plus side, there’s plenty to work with for the patient and imaginative restorer. Could be the perfect candidate for a fenderless hot rod powered by an appropriately unique engine. A Poly V-8 perhaps?

2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4S Review: No Greater Freedom Than a 208-HP Personal RocketAnd so we continued until we absolutely couldn't. Luckily, though our newest family member came into a colossal shitstorm of a world, he emerged healthy, happy and plague-free. But even after he joined the fray, it's not like things returned to any semblance of last year's normal. Back inside we went. And it's where I stayed until a 2020 Ducati Streetfighter V4S showed up at by door late last month, this 208-horsepower, open-air escape pod demanding to be ridden, historic heat wave be damned.
