Enthusiasts Highlights From the 14th Annual Culver City Car Show
2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Chevrolet sends the Camaro to finishing school and ends up with an impeccably behaved monster. It’s a curious truth of automotive engineering that, in general, the lower the volume target for a new vehicle, the more effort is invested in perfecting it. Engineers seem to sweat the nuances of a Ferrari far more than they do those of a Fiat. The same goes for performance models of mass-produced vehicles. With the tedious stuff already taken care of—say, making the car come together as easily as a SnapTite model on the assembly line—the performance guys are free to spend months toying with bushing stiffness.
CULVER CITY, California — Hundreds of classic cars, trucks, , and a handful of tasty food trucks invaded Veteran's Memorial Park this past weekend for the 14th Annual Culver City Car Show.
300+ Photos from Viva Las Vegas
300+ Photos of Lead Sleds, Fins & Flake We got in to town early on Friday to hit the Viva Las Vegas show before it got too toasty in the desert sun and before the big crows hit on Saturday when the real weekend festivities start, including several live music acts on the outdoor stage. We spotted some familiar cars, including some gorgeous lead sleds and period-correct gassers.© Brandan Gillogly 088-Viva-Las-Vegas-2017-Car-Show.jpg Like always, shoebox Fords and Tri-Five Chevys were plentiful, but this year the standout was the ample selection of Edsels.
The show is organized by the Culver City Exchange Club and is open to all classics, customs, hot rods, muscle cars, trucks, specialty vehicles, and motorcycles. However, it's limited to 400 vehicles and available on a first come, first entered basis.
Some participants waited over three hours to claim a coveted spot, but it was all for a worthy cause. Proceeds raised from the event helps support the Culver City Youth Health Center, Downey Child Abuse Prevention Center, the Santa Monica Youth Football Program, and many more local organizations.
This year's show coincided with the Centennial Celebration of Culver City's founding, and also celebrated the city's long history with the automobile, and the movie industry.

Sleeping with my contacts in requires a few exaggerated blinks to be sure. I slowly tilt upright and prepare for a whole new kind of comparison test.
The original Ecto-1 "Ghostbusters" 1959 Cadillac ambulance was on display along with a few other Hollywood classics. But the real stars of the show were all the vintage metal on display from a variety of Southern California enthusiasts.
Everything from classicto a bizarre Zoe Zipper — a three-wheeled microcar with a Ferrari badge stuck on its front end were on hand to observe.
The big event is normally held in downtown Culver City and was relocated to the park this year due to a number of construction projects in the area. Despite that, hundreds of car fans turned out for this extravaganza.
Sony Pictures provided free parking for the event, the weather was a breezy 70 degrees, and there was even a beer garden on site. Good times.

Car Craft Summer Nationals 2017 The World’s Fastest Model T .
Mike Warren of Lobelville, Tennessee comes across as any typical, enthusiastic gear head you might run into at a car event, the vehicle he brought out to the Car Craft Summer Nationals this year is anything but average. This one off creation started life as the shell of a 1926 Model T, that no one, not even the local Model T club wanted anything to do. Rather than seeing the husk of the car as a lost cause, Mike saw it as an open canvas to do whatever he wanted and got to work in his shop.© Wes Allison,Jacob Davis,Mike WarrenAfter taking a trip to Bonneville, Mike had always wanted to build a land speed racer.
