2020 Tough Like RORR Race Report

2020 Tough Like RORR Race Report 2020 Tough Like RORR Race Report“It was definitely pretty tough,” Webb said. “That first lap I was up there and I was thinking this could definitely be harder than I thought. But two-thirds of the way through that second lap I was kind of like, ‘I understand now.’ It started kind of just dragging down on you. There are endless rocks. That first lap, I was riding with Colton [Haaker] there for the huge majority of it. We were having just a really hot pace. I kind of just let him run his pace there, hoping it would wear him out. Maybe it did, maybe it didn’t. But I was making a lot of mistakes when I was behind him.

The traditional 24-hour race on the Nürburgring will now take place in front of spectators - but not in familiar dimensions. The grandstands along the Grand Prix course are open to fans, the corresponding tickets will be sold online "personalized and seat-specific", announced the ADAC Nordrhein on Friday one week before the event (September 24th to 27th). The organizer did not give a specific number of how many fans are allowed.

At the end of July it was said that the event would take place, but without any fans. Despite the opening of the individual grandstands, there will be no folk festival character that the 24-hour race had with visitors in the past. Spectators are not allowed along the Nordschleife, and the paddock will also remain closed to fans, unlike in the past.

There is a strict hygiene concept, which includes wearing masks and maintaining the minimum distance. In addition, no alcohol will be served on site, and "the beer you bring is taboo", the organizers said in the announcement.

"Of course, these strict requirements will be bitter for some fans," said race director Walter Hornung: "The fact that the authorities are still giving us the green light for spectators in the current pandemic situation is a leap of faith that has been made possible through many years of trusting cooperation between all those involved."
