This might sound kind of obvious. Between the introduction of the new Moto2 spec bike (and new engine) for the 2018-2019 season and the mule spotted testing in Spain a few months ago, we weren’t so much wondering if the Daytona was making a comeback. We were only left to wonder when. If you’re one of the many interested in getting their hands on one of the most beloved sportbikes in recent years, you will want to act fast: there won’t be many of them.

We take a look at a 2018 Triumph Street Triple RS that we took in on trade here at Motorcycle Mall. To receive information about this bike please give us a

Unveiling a revamped final preview before the launch at Intermot ,Germany. Sneak peak design render of the Street Triple 765, adding more power to the naked

From the moment somebody in the Triumph design office decided to pull the fairings off a Daytona 675 and throw a set of wide bars on, they were onto a winner. The first Street Triple R was the real deal. A supersport bike for the street with wide bars, distinctive round headlights, and a penchant for saving front tire wear. Since that first model the Street Triple has evolved, outlasting the Daytona 675 and gaining the 765cc motor to keep its power figures competitive.

This latest version is the highest powered yet, with top-spec components and modern refinements to make it what Triumph is calling the ultimate performance streetbike. The Hinckley guys might be just a little biased, but the Street Triple R has always been an awesome bike and—on paper at least—this one steps the naked game up yet again.

In the case of the 2020 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS , the comment completely misses the point. When looking at the spec sheet or the press release, the 2020 update to the Street Triple RS looks like nothing more than changes necessary to address Euro 5 requirements.

Still banging its newly acquired Moto2 drum, Triumph has subtly tweaked its 765cc motor to improve torque, midrange power, and to refine the gearbox. These include a new exhaust camshaft, a crankshaft with less inertia, new clutch and balance shaft, short-ratio first and second gears, and improved machining in the gearbox to negate the requirement for a backlash gear. This weight reduction results in a 7 percent drop in rotational inertia, or in human-speak, an engine that spins up faster and gives more of a feeling of urgency. Peak torque is up to 58 pound-feet at 9,350 rpm with a healthy 9 percent increase in midrange torque and power. Peak power is now 121.4 hp at 11,750 rpm and the dry weight is a claimed 366 pounds.

In terms of components the RS model doesn’t disappoint, with an up/down quickshifter, adjustable TFT screen, Brembo M50 brakes, an adjustable Brembo master cylinder, Showa Big Piston Front Fork, and a fully adjustable Öhlins shock. The standard-fitment Pirelli Supercorsa SP tires underline the track intentions of this bike. This update hasn’t all been about outright performance though; passengers do get a little extra legroom. Okay, so it’s mostly about performance.

With the accessory Bluetooth module fitted, you can control a GoPro camera, get turn-by-turn navigation, as well as manage music and calls on your phone.

Triumph says this new Street Triple is a major step up in performance; we’d like the claim to be true, but as always the proof will be in the riding. Stay tuned.
