The track crew built a technical track and it was physically demanding, but I’m super excited and thankful to do my best out there and tonight that was the top step. It’s cool to get back-to-back wins and I’m really excited about it, but right now my focus is on Sunday.”

In his second race back from a shoulder injury that sidelined him in the beginning of the season, Nichols holeshotted the main event, led laps, and after being passed by McElrath, held onto second place until the checkered flag flew to capture the runner-up spot for the evening.
“It was a really great night for the team, exactly what we needed to do,” Nichols remarked. “I wish I could’ve held the lead a little longer, but it was awesome to lead laps and be back on the podium after such a long break from racing. 2020 Salt Lake City 3 Supercross 450 Class Race Report“We had a pretty great battle going, but I did not want to let the win go,” Tomac said. “I ended up getting a triple combo at the end of that rhythm, which was the real make or break moment for me. That was a great battle and a lot of fun. The track had some great character and it was just a great day for the Monster Energy Kawasaki team.
“I just washed the front and that’s about it,” Sexton said. “I came from pretty much dead last; that’s all I could do. We’re going to have to be better and get ready for Sunday.”
Garrett Marchbanks got pinched off the start and completed the opening lap of the feature race in 14th place, but piloted histo a fifth place finish in his home state.
“My start in the main didn’t do me any favors trying to get up to the front,” Marchbanks said. “I was way back and had to manage to get through the pack. I’m thankful that we were able to get through pretty quickly, but the pace at the front is really high and if you’re not there at the start, it’s hard to close the gap. Everything else feels great. I just need to get up there so I can challenge those guys from the start. We get another try in a few days [on Sunday].”
