Michael van der Mark will no longer compete for Yamaha in the upcoming WSBK season. Yamaha officially confirmed this today. Van der Mark has piloted a factory-supported Yamaha R1 since the 2017 season and was the first driver to win a race after Yamaha's return to WSBK.

"Yamaha and Michael van der Mark will go their separate ways at the end of the Superbike World Championship season 2020. The 27-year-old Dutchman will take on a new challenge in 2021," confirms Yamaha van der Marks change to another manufacturer.

"With van der Marks farewell, a four-year collaboration comes to an end that has resulted in three WSBK victories and two victories in the prestigious 8-hour race in Suzuka," Yamaha said in honor of the former Supersport World Champion's success.

In addition to the WSBK race victories and successes in Suzuka, Yamaha and van der Mark combine the guest starts in MotoGP. The Dutchman started two Grands Prix in the 2017 season but was unable to finish in the points.
