Does Roland Sands ever sleep? Apparently not. His latest project, a collaboration with Indian Motorcycle, involves a line of race-inspired accessories made for Indian’s FTR 1200 streetbike. The new FTR x Roland Sands Design Collection gives riders a way to customize their FTR 1200 with race-inspired elements that add both style and function.

‘Course, Sands is no stranger to Indian; the company sponsors RSD’s Super Hooligan amateur racing series, which is exactly where Roland got the idea for these new accessories. RSD’s experience of modifying the flat-track-inspired FTR for the race series inspired this line of hard parts, the latest collaborative offering from the two brands.

The 2020 Indian FTR 1200 Rally is a scrambler-styled machine that is built off of the original FTR 1200 foundation, but features the rally windscreen, taller handlebar, brown seat, and Titanium Smoke paint. Occasional light off-road duties breaking up some of your day-to-day riding could be had on this machine thanks to the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, taller ProTaper handlebar, and spoked rims. It is powered by a 1,203cc V-twin engine.

“The FTR 1200 is such a beautifully styled stock motorcycle and we didn’t want to do anything radical. Instead, we focused on creating elements that complement the bike’s refined, race-inspired aesthetic, while also offering subtle performance advantages,” Roland Sands said.
