The Most Significant "Debuts" of the Canceled 2020 Geneva Auto Show

  The Most Significant Coronavirus fears shut down the show, but automakers debuted these viral rides anyway.But even without a physical venue, the show must—and did—go on. Many new cars that were set to make their debut at the Geneva auto show were still revealed digitally online, and some automakers even put on virtual press conferences live-streamed to the web. Geneva has historically been the show where automakers debut their fastest, most exclusive, most high-tech, [insert any other relevant superlatives here] new production models and concept cars, and this year's remote event was no exception.

Fly Racing 2021 Gear Lineup | Fly Racing launched the new Zone Pro googles, a lower-priced Formula helmet, and zipperless Lite pants. The racewear is constructed from multi-directional stretch panels for flexibility. The jersey has an updated tagless collar that is more streamlined and low profile.

For the past three summers, we have been fortunate to receive the opportunity to head to Idaho for Fly Racing’s annual “Summer Camp,” which is the Western Power Sports brand’s name for its yearly gear intro. For the two that I have attended the past few years, that entailed flying to Boise, having dinner, and getting a look at the new gear that same night, spending the first full day spinning laps at a privately rented motocross track, and the second day trail riding in the mountains—all while spending time and riding with several of Fly Racing’s employees and riders alike, such as Damon Bradshaw and Weston Peick.

Unfortunately, as has been the case for many events thus far in 2020, COVID-19 has prevented the annual event from taking place this year. However, the pandemic hasn’t delayed the release of Fly Racing’s 2021 gear, which you can read about below.

There is a new version of the brand’s top-of-the-line helmet called the Formula CC, which features all of the same safety features as the Formula Carbon including the Adaptive Impact System (AIS), Rheon Impact Energy Cells, and Conehead technology. The only material difference between the two helmets is the shell, which is in the name of each. The Formula CC uses a carbon composite shell, while the Formula Carbon employs a carbon fiber shell. The Formula CC costs $200 less than the Formula Carbon at $449.95.

Of course, each gear line has new graphics and color schemes. Beyond that, the Lite pants enjoy a complete redesign with a new four-way-stretch material blend, zipperless entry, and modernized stretch panel materials. According to Fly Racing, its new Lite pants are just that, weighing under a pound.

The Kinetic pants have also been updated for 2021 with new stretch panels that are said to significantly reduce weight, a new double strap closure that wraps around like a belt, and a different knee shape that is claimed to be more form-fitting. The Kinetic pants are available in four graphics including the K120, K220, SE, and Mesh.
